Summary:
The main objective is to provide supportive services to Relative/NREFM caregivers who have primary care of children residing with them.
The Relative Support Worker works closely and collaborates with the program supervisor and program manager to manage the unique needs of each client.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a combination of skills, experience, and passion in the following areas:
o Knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and organizational relationships.
o Knowledge of structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar o Knowledge of office practices, processes, and computer software programs o Knowledge of scheduling and coordinating o Ability to work remotely/virtually.
o Ability to work independently and with little to no supervision.
o Ability to plan and effectively manage complex, long-term projects.
o Ability to prioritize and organize work.
o Ability to meet schedules and deadlines of the work area.
o Ability to compose routine correspondence and reports.
o Ability to maintain the confidentiality of client and department information.
o Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations.
o Conforms with and supports organization's quality assurance and improvement guidelines.

Responsibilities:
o Have thorough knowledge of program goals, objectives, policies and procedures o Have Knowledge of at-risk, high-risk families experiencing domestic violence, substance abuse, depression, and/or child abuse.
o Contact families/caregivers within 48 hours of referral to assess the needs of the family.
o Meet with clients to review needs/services/goals to include informing the client of voluntary services, rights, and child abuse reporting mandates.
o Develop a service plan with goals to identify strengths and address areas of need and concerns with families/caregivers.
o Document and file all contacts with families/caregivers within 24 hours of contact.
o Use outreach to ensure participation and completion of services goals per grant requirements.
o When necessary, travel within the city of Lancaster to provide services and assess the needs and goals of the families/caregivers.
o Work closely and collaborate with DCFS staff on an ongoing and consistent basis to ensure and create a comprehensive network of supportive services for these identified caregivers.
o Utilizing cultural competencies, establish trusting relationships with families using non-judgmental nurturing interventions which are family-focused and strength-based.
o Assist families/caregivers to strengthen their skills to ensure safety in the home environment; strengthen problem solving and coping skills; help utilize community services and support systems; and advocate for needed services.
o Make or assist families/caregivers with referrals to community agencies for needed services and mandates.
o Complete and chart all notes/documentation in a timely manner that is accurate.
o Be compliant with all training requirements.
o Carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
o Other duties as assigned.
Education and
Experience:
o Bachelor's Degree preferred or minimum of 32 completed units from an accredited University, College or Community College, with at least 16 units in Social Work, Social Sciences, Humanities, Public Administration or Public Health o Two (2) years' experience working in the field of social work, behavioral science or social sciences.
o Experience working with culturally diverse communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
o Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
o Excellent written/oral communication skills o Demonstrated track record with respect to detail orientation and accuracy.
o Must demonstrate excellent skills in Microsoft excel, word, outlook and the ability to learn new data programs.
o Attention to detail and accuracy.
o Ability to solve problems, find and correct errors.
o Covid Vaccine highly encouraged.
o Bi-lingual, English/Spanish, Required Required Licensure and/or Certifications:
o Current and maintained CA driver's license.
o Current/maintained auto insurance.
o Own transportation for work-related purposes o Current and maintained infant and adult CPR o Meet basic health requirements, background check, and physical job standards.
o Must have TB clearance.
Working Conditions:
o Work in flexible settings between the office, remotely/virtual setting and /or in the community o Working with overburdened, often high-risk families of low economic and varied cultural backgrounds, living in high-risk areas.
o Able to maintain HIPAA requirements with confidential information, safely and discreetly, as required, when working in various settings o This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
